Who doesn't like to experience new things like food, culture and people? Who doesn't like to escape reality (every now and then) and go on a vacation?
Many years ago, I came across a website that featured an artist's experiences with his spouse -in the good times and the bad times, challenging and joyful moments of their relationship (www.hj-story.com). The theme of his renditions was defining love through the artist's adorable cartoons and I started following his artwork.
One day, I came across this illustration which focused on escaping together the challenging day-to-day lives we live for something new and exciting and I thought about my best friend. We have been married for a long time and hardly did anything together in the way of travel.
One Christmas holiday, I said to her: "Why don't we go somewhere- not far away- but some place new that we haven't gone to yet and explore!?" Thankfully, she agreed and we have been making a point of travelling somewhere, every year.
You may be asking, "Where did you guys go?" No where special, really... we went to Seneca Falls, New York -you know the place- where they filmed, "It's a Wonderful Life". It's not so far away but I loved the experience of seeing a new place, going to the location where they filmed this Christmas classic; but above all... spending time with my girl.
My girl and I have gone to exotic places and some rather "normal" places but what I have really enjoyed about all our trips are the memories we have made together.
Sometimes we have travelled with friends, sometimes alone and sometimes with family. I cherish all those experiences and I am thankful for the gift of travel.
I hope you will follow me as I share with you, some of my adventures.
